Day 3: Monjo to Namche

Today we continued up the Khumbu valley, cross crossing the Dudh Khosi, which means the Milky River.
Overall we would climb 2,000ft/595m, however with many ups and downs!
Most of the time we could see the trail ahead with some spectacular suspension bridges to cross
You could see the bridges far ahead and then a hour later be crossing them!
Of course priority is always given to the Yaks and mules
After walking at river level for a while we started the looooong climb up to Namche
and then we saw our next crossing, guess which one it was
Of course it was the highest one, the lower one is unsafe and no longer used.  Crossing the bridge was a real challenge for Joy, who dreaded all the swaying bridges, and despite clinging on to Prem all the way across, she was in tears through fear and fright! She was terrific to overcome her dread and arrived to a round of cheers and applause.
About half way up the final 2 hour climb there is a viewing point where the top of Everest is just about visible, unfortunately not today, she (?) was covered in cloud. So it was onwards and upwards and definitely feeling the thinning air, finally arriving in the Khumbu's largest village, Namche.
Our lodge for the night was appropriately named Sherpaland and being made of stone, was really cold inside. Thank goodness for the hot water bottle. What? you think I was going to rough it!!!
