Day 6: Mende to Tashinga

Todays trek was to take us across the the Khunde valley to Tashinga, approx a 5 hour walk. For the first time it was an overcast and cold day, so instead of my normal T shirt & shorts I started off with 3 layers!
We past through the villages of Khunde and Khumjung seeing a hospital, a school and a hydro electric plant that we all funded by the Himalayan Trust i.e. the trust set up by Sir Edmund Hillary.

In the village of Khumjung we saw the house that Tenzing Norgay used to live in, before he left Nepal to live in Darjeling, India.
These are Zopke, across between Yaks and Cows
It was good to know that a Heli Cupter Resque would be available!
The clouds cleared briefly to reveal this amazing sight

Later in the afternoon it started to rain, so we stopped at the highest bakery in the Himalaya for a very welcome hot chocolate.
It was great to be created by these 3 smiles at the Tashinga Lodge

The stats for the day showed that we had climbed a cumulative 1,549ft and descended 921ft.
